What is mapmymole?
mapmymole is service that offers access to UK dermatology consultants for the assessment of skin lesions with the use of specialised pictures.
Why use mapmymole?
With skin cancer cases rising and public awareness increasing it is great to be able to take use of technology and have concerns about skin moles addressed more readily, especially as face to face access to health professionals can be difficult due to lack of availability.
How does it work?
We take pictures of the skin lesion in question using a special lens [dermatoscope] attached to a phone or tablet. These are uploaded securely via the mapmymole app and a consultant dermatologist will then review the pictures and a report is then emailed to you and our clinic with any recommendations; the report should say whether any further action is needed or not i.e whether you should see a dermatologist or your GP in person for further assessment.
